SIKESTON, Mo. -- The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold a workshop Sept. 15 for cities and counties interested in applying for Transportation Enhancement funds. The workshop will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at MoDOT's Southeast District office at 2675 N. Main St. in Sikeston.

SIKESTON, Mo. -- The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold a workshop Sept. 15 for cities and counties interested in applying for Transportation Enhancement funds.

The workshop will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at MoDOT's Southeast District office at 2675 N. Main St. in Sikeston. Transportation Enhancement funds are available to local public agencies for projects to construct sidewalks, trails and bike lanes, and to make Americans with Disabilities Act improvements to existing sidewalks.

Local public agencies are reimbursed for eligible project costs at a rate of 80 percent, with the local agency providing a 20 percent match.

Eligible projects must be able to begin construction on or before May 2012. MoDOT encourages all interested parties to attend this workshop, which will cover vital information about the application process.
