Laura Jean Maloney and Joda David Bess exchanged wedding vows June 12, 2010, at Miramar Beach in Destin, Fla. The Rev. Don Goodrum of Florida performed the ceremony. Music was by James Holloway of Cape Girardeau, nephew of the groom, and Hunter Dawson of Florida.

Parents of the bride are Archie and Lucille Maloney of Zalma, Mo. The groom is the son of Charlotte Bess of Cape Girardeau, and the late Joda L. Bess.

Matron of honor was Lisa Musgrave of Dexter, Mo., sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Misty Thrower and Minyo Ticer of Cape Girardeau, and Angie Huebner of Lake Butler, Fla.

Dan Swallows of Winterset, Iowa, was best man. Groomsmen were Joda Holloway, nephew of the groom; Dale Sanders; and Billy Bess, cousin of the groom; all of Cape Girardeau.

Flower girl and ringbearer were Kenli and Kolby Musgrave of Dexter, niece and nephew of the bride.

Marcia Underwood of Sikeston, Mo., attended the guest book. Greeters were Valorie Nelson of Cape Girardeau and Sandy Kelso of Scott City.

The groom's mother hosted a celebration dinner June 11 at Angler's in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.

The bride and groom hosted the reception July 17 at Dockside in Cape Girardeau.

Mrs. Bess is a graduate of Zalma High School, DeVry University, Southeast Missouri State University, and Oakland City University. She is a preschool teacher with Sikeston Public Schools.

The groom is a graduate of Central High School and Southeast University. He is sales manager with Bluff City Beer in Cape Girardeau.

After a wedding trip to Antigua, the couple is residing in Cape Girardeau.
