DONGOLA, Ill. -- Roland Burd, 83, of Dongola died Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, at his home.
He was born Feb. 4, 1927, in Pulaski, Ill., to Cecil and Tressie Thurston Burd. He and Juanita McClain were married Jan. 6, 1945. She preceded him in death May 10, 2008.
Burd was a member of Anna Gospel Assembly Church.
He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include numerous cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife; two infant daughters, Janette Marie in 1946 and Carolyn Sue in 1949; and his parents.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Anna.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gaylen Holden officiating. Interment will be in Mound City National Cemetery, with military honors by the Illinois National Guard Honors Detail.
