Mildred Earline "Sissie" Cooper Ramsey, 83, of Iuka, Miss., passed away Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, at Southern Magnolia Estates in Iuka. Mrs. Ramsey was born July 7, 1927, in Henry County, Tenn., to Ben and Mildred Cooper. She graduated from Big Sandy High School in 1945, and married Jimmie Ramsey on Feb. 10, 1946. They celebrated their 51st anniversary before he passed away in 1997...

Mildred Earline "Sissie" Cooper Ramsey, 83, of Iuka, Miss., passed away Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, at Southern Magnolia Estates in Iuka.

Mrs. Ramsey was born July 7, 1927, in Henry County, Tenn., to Ben and Mildred Cooper. She graduated from Big Sandy High School in 1945, and married Jimmie Ramsey on Feb. 10, 1946. They celebrated their 51st anniversary before he passed away in 1997.

Mrs. Ramsey was an active member of Iuka Baptist Church, and she served on the Iuka Public Library Committee that was instrumental in the relocation and expansion of the library in 1969. She was also president of the Lucy Rowe Study Club, and worked for many years at the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service in Iuka.

After her children went to college, she and her husband lived in Jackson, Miss., three decades before she returned to Iuka.

The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. today at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka. Dr. Ronnie Hatfield and Tim Dixon will officiate . Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today.

She is survived by a son, Dr. Darryl Ramsey of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Mitzi Norris (John) of Jackson, Miss.; four grandchildren, Megan Jones (Thomas) of Knoxville, Tenn., Joshua Norris of Memphis, Tenn., Ben Ramsey and Will Ramsey of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Pat Cooper (Barbara) of Midway, Ga.; and a sister-in-law, Eloise Foote of Iuka.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two sisters, Mary Lynn Vester Rickman and Dodie Holland.

Memorials may be made to Iuka Baptist Church Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, Iuka Public Library or another charity.
