Letter not realistic

THE letter to the editor titled, "Who will pay for the casino," was very entertaining with its 2,311-mile line of pennies. But the writer's argument is specious. The casino owners will build the facility and pay for it with the profits from the business. This is no different than the way any other private enterprise does business.

Seniors suffer

SENIORS are going to have to go another year without an increase in their Social Security. There weren't enough new millionaires last year from the Bush tax cuts for the rich. They need the money so they can live high on the hog.

Leading questions

I hate phone surveys. They are designed for one viewpoint only. The recent casino survey illustrated this by its questions and statements. I must be one heartless person since I don't support it.

Graffiti problem

I just took a walk by the river on the new walkway they are constructing. It is very nice. However, it is very sad to see the graffiti all over the wall. I know there is not much the city can do to prevent it, considering today's society. These delinquent kids really scare me.

Casino poetry

I went down to the river today

I went down to the river to pray;

Asked the good Lord to find a way

To keep that gambling boat at bay.

CITIZENS Against Distracted Driving (CADD) pledges to take the battle to the street where distracted driving is claiming lives and destroying families. With a focus on education, prevention, victim advocacy, and most of all, solutions to this growing epidemic, CADD aims to stem the tide of destruction.

More gridlock

THE coming election results will be very encouraging, even exciting, for those looking forward to more gridlock.
