A Cape Girardeau man was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action and resisting arrest after an altercation with police Tuesday. Lavell M. Williams, 20, pointed a handgun at a man on Pindwood Lane and then fled from police when they arrived at the scene, according to police statements. Police said Williams ran from officer J. Hann, who repeatedly ordered him to stop. Williams then hid behind a vehicle but later crawled out and lay on the ground. Hann held him at gunpoint until additional officers could arrive at the scene. He was then arrested and police recovered the handgun, which was unloaded. Williams was in custody Friday on a $15,000 cash-only bond.
