Sarah Alice Rice, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born April 15, 1917, in Oakland, Ill., to Joseph Marion and Dora Estella Benoit Swinford. She and Charles R. Rice were married June 23, 1942, in St. Charles, Mo. He died in 1977.

Rice was a volunteer at Saint Francis Medical Center 25 years, active on the Senior Citizens Board 12 years and employed five years. She was a member of Abbey Road Christian Church 30 years, was part of the First Christian Ladies Group, and a member of Wednesday Club.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Tom Mogelnicki of Cape Girardeau; a grandson, Jason Trickey (Sarah) of Cape Girardeau; great-grandchildren, Alexis Trickey, Gracen Trickey, Greta Shipman, Gage Shipman; and a granddaughter-in-law, Brandy Trickey.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, James Lynn Trickey II.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rodger Kiepe officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be given in lieu of flowers to Saint Francis Auxiliary or Cape Girardeau Senior Center.
