Havco Wood Products LLC in Scott City began a cleanup operation Tuesday afternoon, shortly after a silo fire was extinguished by Scott County fire departments.

Scott City and several other departments responded to the fire before the sun came up Tuesday after smoke was reported coming from one of the company's silos.

"We were storing sawdust from our operation in the silo," Havco president Bruce Bader said.

The company manufactures wood flooring and other wood products.

As of 2:45 p.m., the fire had been put out, Bader added, and his staff was emptying the silo to ensure crews extinguished all of the embers.

No one was injured in the incident.

"We, at this point, do not know the cause," Bader said. "We expect to be back into normal production within a day or so."
