A. Ray Langston, 93, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at the home of his daughter in Imperial, Mo.

He was born Jan. 2, 1917, in Greenbrier, Ark., to Alby and Edna Williams Langston.

He and Edith Hinck Langston were married Dec. 24, 1939, at LaForge, Mo. She died Aug. 12, 1996.

Mr. Langston graduated from Draughton Business College in Memphis, Tenn., in 1940. He was a bookkeeper for Pollack Hide and Fur beginning March 10, 1942. The company was later purchased by Sides Steel, and he remained as bookkeeper until 1996.

He served as a deacon and board chairman at Bethany Baptist Church more than 20 years.

In 1996 he moved to Imperial.

Survivors include his daughter, Delores (Tom) Dietrich of Imperial; two brothers, Amon Langston of Odessa, Texas, Ozrow Langston of Aurora, Ill.; a sister, Ila Morgan of Weatherford, Texas; three grandchildren, Alicia King, Neil Dirden, Misti Webster; three great-grandchildren, Courtney and Colin King, Kyra Webster.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and two brothers.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will follow at Zion United Methodist Cemetery in Gordonville.
