More than 3,000 tickets sold for 'Mickey's Rockin' Road Show'

A large audience gathered at the Show Me Center on Friday evening for 'Mickey's Rockin' Road Show.' In all, 3,302 tickets were sold for the Disney Live event.

"Disney keeps everyone a kid at heart," area resident Charla Watson said. "Seeing the sparkle in the children's eyes is what makes this show worth it."

"There is something here that appeals to people of all ages," Lisa Gullette said,

Macyra Pool and her sister, Abbey, came from Scott City with their grandmother, Pat Blankenship, hoping to see Minnie Mouse and Pluto.

"What I like most about Disney is that there's always a lot of imagination," Macyra said.

The first Disney character the audience was acquainted with was Goofy, followed by Donald Duck and Minnie Mouse. The iconic trio was busy preparing for a talent show when they were joined by Mickey Mouse.

Soon the roster of Disney characters was rounded out to include Cinderella, Buzz Lightyear and other characters as the musical progressed, oftentimes encouraging audience participation with songs like "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo."

"What else but the magic of Disney could have had children and grown ups alike roaring like lions one minute and yelling 'ye haw' the next?" said Lisa Ferris of Jackson. "I think that only Disney could have made every child in here share the collective gasp we all heard when Cinderella first came out!"

"I think it's wonderful the Show Me Center was able to bring Disney to the area," said Oscar Rodriguez of Dexter, who brought his wife and two daughters to the show. "It has been a wonderful show and my daughters have enjoyed it a lot. Mickey and Minnie and the Toy Story characters were all just fabulous."

"Disney is absolutely timeless," said Jummie Ready of Cape Girardeau, who brought her daughter Harper to see the show. "Cinderella is just as beautiful today as she was when I was a kid ... but she might be just a bit more sparkly now."
