ST. LOUIS -- Robert Burton Swaim, 62, of St. Louis died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was born Aug. 4, 1948, in Kansas City, to Richard H. and Mildred Smith Swaim. He served three years in the U.S. Army and was a 1966 graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School. ST. LOUIS -- Robert Burton Swaim, 62, of St. Louis died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born Aug. 4, 1948, in Kansas City, to Richard H. and Mildred Smith Swaim.

He served three years in the U.S. Army and was a 1966 graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School. He owned Public Affairs Group, a lobbying company in Springfield, Ill., until his illness.

He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Mildred Swaim of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Kathy (Gregory) Boldrey of Sikeston, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Jenny Keppler of Springfield, Ill.; and a stepgrandchild, Brady Keppler.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard H. Swaim.

A memorial service was held Saturday at Chateau Girardeau.
