"It was special," Porter told the Missourian. "It's my senior year. There's a lot of us on the team, our senior year. We just had it in our mind we was going to win it this year so that's what we did."

Porter scored 30 points in the title game to go along with 15 rebounds, eight steals and four assists.

"He likes to get out there and give it his all all the time, and it shows," SCC coach Kenyon Wright said. "He works on his game a lot. He's a great kid. He's just a special one."

Porter averaged almost 32 points a game in the tournament, which included wins over Woodland and Charleston as well as Jackson, and was named to the All-Tournament team.
