Southeast Missouri State tailback Henry Harris and center Sean Middleton recently earned more honors as they were named to the College Sporting News Sweet 63 Football Championship Subdivision All-American team.

The CSN squad was the last of the six major FCS All-American teams to be announced. Harris made five of the teams while Middleton was selected to four of the squads.

Harris had a record-breaking season that saw him rush for 1,735 yards and 18 touchdowns. He was the OVC offensive player of the year.

Middleton, the Rimington Award winner as the FCS's top center, was part of an offensive line that led the nation in sacks allowed (0.50 per game) and was third in rushing offense (271.9 yards per game).

Track wins two titles

The Southeast track and field teams both finished fourth over the weekend at the Illini Classic in Champaign, Ill., with two women's athletes capturing titles.

Jackson High School graduate Rachel Kahle won the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 10 3/4 inches.

Shemeika Brewer won the triple jump with a distance of 39-7.

Brewer was also third in the long jump (18-1 1/2) while Kahle was fifth in the 200 meters (25.31 seconds).

Jerika Lewis placed third in the 400 meters (57.41).

Southeast's women scored 69 points. Host Illinois won with 273 points, followed by Wisconsin (92) and Western Kentucky (78).

Brandon Colbert paced Southeast's men as he was second in the shot put (54-2 3/4) and fourth in the weight throw (59-10 1/4).

Blake Carter placed second in the long jump (23-7) and Craig Robinson was fourth in the shot put (52-0) to round out Southeast's top-five finishes.

Southeast's men scored 54 points. Illinois was first with 238 points, followed by Wisconsin (164) and Loyola (62).

Tennis loses twice

The Southeast women's tennis team opened its season with two losses in Columbia, Mo.

Southeast fell to Missouri-Kansas City 6-1 on Saturday, then suffered a 7-0 defeat against host Missouri on Sunday.

The Redhawks' lone victory in the nine matches against UMKC came at No. 1 singles as Nikole Novikova beat Eva Dalvai 7-5, 6-4.

MU swept all nine matches, losing a total of six games.

Southeast returns to action Feb. 5 with its home opener against Bradley.
