~ The junior established a new school record in the triple jump

Southeast Missouri State junior Shemeika Brewer led a strong showing by the Redhawks track and field program during the Indiana Relays held over the weekend in Bloomington, Ind.

Brewer broke the school triple jump record with a distance of 40 feet, 5 inches, which ranks 27th nationally through the early part of the indoor season.

Brewer, who was second in the event, beat the previous school mark of 40-4 3/4 set by Kathy Coleman in 2005. Brewer's previous career best of 39-6 1/2 ranks fifth all-time at Southeast.

Southeast received first-place performances from Jerika Lewis in the 200 meters (24.88 seconds), Jessica Bollinger in the 5,000 (18:12.95) and Jason Lumpkin in the 5,000 (15:12.66).

Bollinger and Lumpkin have the top times in the Ohio Valley Conference so far this season.

Placing second for the Redhawks were a pair of local products, Jackson's Rachel Kahle in the 60 (7.62) and Central's Tyler Terry in the long jump (23-5 1/4).
