IN 1956 the U. S. backed the rebels who dethroned Fulgencio Batista of Cuba and we got Fidel Castro. In 1958 King Fassel II was assassinated with U.S. approval. The rebels formed a left wing republic with a close relationship to the USSR. It was dominated by the Baath socialist party. In 1979 Saddam Hussein became president, he purged all his opposition in the party and became a dictator. In 1979 the U.S. played a major role in ousting Shah Pahlavi in Iran and instead we got Ayatollah Khomeini. The U.S. leadership and media appear to be squarely on the side of the rebels (of unknown leadership) in the overthrow of President Mubarak of Egypt. Lets hope our judgment is better this time.

Polling facts

PRESIDENT Obama told Bill O'Reilly in an interview on Super Bowl Sunday that a majority of Americans support his health care takeover plan. But a Gallop poll conducted Feb. 2 through Feb. 5, shows the truth to be completely the opposite of what the president said. The poll showed that 56 percent do not support Obamacare, while only 40 percent approve. On the economy, the same poll shows 60 percent disapproval of Obama's plan, while 37 percent approve. On taxes, 54 percent disapprove of his performance and 42 percent approve.
