Two days after the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce announced its support of two April ballot issues to fund a new wastewater treatment plant and its opposition to a proposed smoking ban, Old Town Cape has followed suit.

The downtown business group's board of directors met Thursday and voted to support passage of an extension of a quarter-cent sales tax and a separate $72 million bond issue to pay for a new wastewater treatment plant. The board also voted to oppose a proposed ban on indoor public smoking "over concern for rights of individuals and business owners," according to a news release.
