The Southeast Missouri State baseball team plays its second road series of the season against another tough opponent from the Sun Belt Conference.

Southeast (7-2) visits Troy (6-2) for a three-game set beginning at 6 p.m. today in Troy, Ala. There also will be contests at 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.

"It should be a very good series and an excellent test for us," Southeast coach Mark Hogan said. "Troy has a really good program and they've gotten off to a good start like we have."

The Redhawks opened the season by taking two of three at defending Sun Belt co-champion Louisiana-Lafayette.

That was followed by a six-game homestand that saw the Redhawks go 5-1. Southeast, riding a three-game winning streak, has captured all three of its series so far.

"It was a good homestand for us," said Hogan, whose squad begins a five-game road trip that ends with contests Tuesday and Wednesday at Arkansas-Little Rock. "We're playing well and hopefully we can keep it going."

Troy went 36-25 overall last year, with a 16-14 conference record. The Trojans have won at least 32 games each of the past seven seasons.

The Trojans have a .285 batting average and a 3.75 ERA. They have outscored their opponents 55-31.

Southeast is hitting .295 with a 2.62 ERA. The Redhawks have outscored the opposition 70-36.
