Matthew Deven Christopher, 23, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at his home.

He was born Sept. 16, 1987, in San Bernardino, Calif., to Douglas and Carol Rogers Christopher.

Matthew graduated from Central High School in 2006. He worked for Marquette Barge Lines and was recently promoted to first mate.

He was an accomplished skate boarder, receiving a sponsorship at age 12 from Anonymous Skate Co.

Matthew was a proud uncle to Jake Coleman and gladly helped in the home health care of his grandmother, Nancy King.

Survivors include his mother, Carol Christopher; maternal grandmother, Nancy King; two sisters, Amy (Gary) Coleman and Erin (Bill) Bradley; and an uncle, Paul King, all of Cape Girardeau; and many cousins.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
