Gretchen Logue, a St. Louis blogger for Missouri Education Watchdog, will talk about the future of education at tonight's meeting of the SEMO Pachyderm Club. The talk will begin at 7 p.m. at Dexter Bar-B-Que in Cape Girardeau and is open to the public. Logue, a wife and mother of two, is the co-editor of Missouri Education Watchdog, which is dedicated to reporting on local, state and national education issues. The topic at the meeting will be how national academic standards pose a threat to local control of education, according to a Pachyderm Club news release. Logue moved to St. Louis so her older son could attend Central Institute for the Deaf and then the Moog Oral School for Education. It was there Logue became convinced parents should have choices in their children's education using their own tax dollars as they see best, the release said.
