Marguerite P. "Polly" Wilmsmeyer, 96, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of St. Louis, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Ratliff Care Center. Marguerite P. "Polly" Wilmsmeyer, 96, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of St. Louis, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Ratliff Care Center.

She was born July 7, 1914, in Cape Girardeau, to Henry and Tina Kurre Armgardt. Marguerite and Edwin F. Wilmsmeyer were married June 6, 1948, in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death Jan. 14, 2000.

Marguerite was a bookkeeper at Kimbel Truck Lines in Cape Girardeau from 1937 to 1948, before moving to St. Louis where she was bookkeeper at Lecoutour Construction Co. from 1948 to 1971, and National Electric Co. from 1971 until retiring and moving back to Cape Girardeau.

She was a devoted member of Salem Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ in Florissant, Mo., and Evangelical United Church of Christ in Cape Girardeau. She played the piano during Sunday school in both churches for many years.

She is survived by two daughters, Karen (Mitch) Shelby of Cape Girardeau, Doris Conn of O'Fallon, Mo.; two granddaughters, Jodie (Eric) Ticer of Cape Girardeau, Morgan Conn of O'Fallon; a grandson, Justin Shelby of Cape Girardeau; two great-grandsons, Brody Paulson of O'Fallon and Lawson Ticer of Cape Girardeau; nieces; nephews; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and a son-in-law, John Conn.

Visitation will be from noon until time of service Friday at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Dan Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Lorimier Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ratliff Care Center or Evangelical United Church of Christ in Cape Girardeau, and will be accepted at the funeral home.
