COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The Scott County Central Braves advanced to the Class 1 state championship for a third consecutive year with a 78-42 semifinal win over Jefferson on Thursday at Mizzou Arena.
Senior Otto Porter lead the Braves with 34 points as he broke the all-time scoring record for games played at the final four.
He shot 15 of 18 (83 percent) from the floor and made all four of his free-throw attempts while collecting nine rebounds, five steals and four assists.
Porter has scored 164 points in final four games. The previous record was set in 1960 by Christian Brothers College High School's Garry Garrison, who finished with 161 points.
Porter will have a chance to pad his record when his team plays in for a third consecutive state title Saturday at 11:30 p.m. at Mizzou Arena.
The Braves, who have forced a running clock in each of their playoff games this season -- meaning they've lead by more than 30 points in the fourth quarter -- actually trailed 9-8 midway through the first quarter before going on an 11-1 run and never relenting.
Dominique Porter and Reggie Woodson finished with 10 points each for SCC.
