Gary grew up in Charleston, Mo., and now serves as executive director of Gibson Recovery Center and HillCrest Pointe in Cape Girardeau. He is involved with Community Caring Council; Missouri Bootheel Regional Consortium; Men at the Cross; Church of God in Christ Opportunity Family Outreach Center in Charleston, Mo.; Substance Abuse Coalition; Vision House; and the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce. In 2009, he was instrumental in opening up 22 other behavioral health clinics throughout Southeast Missouri, allowing thousands of Missourians to obtain much treatment for substance abuse and mental health disorders. He also is a member of the selection committee for the current state director of the Missouri Department of Health and Human Services, and consulting surveyor for the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, an international accrediting body.
