Zach McDowell blasted two home runs out, helping the Jackson baseball team win its home opener in six innings Tuesday.
McDowell tied the game when he led off the bottom of the first with a solo home run. He added a two-run blast in the fifth inning and finished 3 for 4 in the Indians' 12-2 win over Ste. Genevieve.
Winning pitcher Bobby Clark also went 3 for 4, while Logan Bartels, Dylan Koehler and Trevor Jaco all had two hits apiece. Jaco's hits included a double. Jackson (1-1), which scored nine runs over the first two inning, had 14 hits.
Clark allowed four hits and two earned runs in four innings. He struck out six and walked three.
Bartels followed with two hitless innings.

The Pirates banged out five doubles among their 12 hits in a victorious season opener at home.
Cale Regelsperger and Tom Hutchinson both had two doubles while Tyler Blessing had one. All three players finished with two hits, as did Alex Green, Jake Dobbelare and Colby Brown.
Moldenhauer allowed six hits and two runs in six innings. He struck out three and walked three. Brown pitched the final inning, allowing three hits and striking out two.
