A fire at Flickerwood Farms in Jackson was contained quickly to a small area of the facility that produces wood shavings Wednesday afternoon.

The fire originated around 2:15 p.m. when a machine that collects sawdust was clogged, causing it to catch fire. Wind caused fire crews difficulty in battling the blaze. Fire departments from Jackson, Fruitland, East County, Delta, North County and Millersville were called in to fight the fire. Efforts to contain the fire were still ongoing around 3:30 p.m., although crews only remained on scene to make sure a fire wasn't smoldering beneath sawdust. Staff from Flickerwood remained on scene Wednesday to monitor the area. No injures were reported in the fire, but a spokesman at the scene said there was significant damage to the equipment Flickerwood uses to convert logs into wood chips.
