Mary Elizabeth Hale, 74, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Scott City died Sunday, March 27, 2011, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born July 26, 1936, in Fornfelt (now Scott City), to Arlie William and Viola Mowery Smith Sr. She married Floyd Frank Hale on April 22, 1953, in Benton, Mo. He preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 1993.

Hale was a nurse's aide at Saint Francis and a member of Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Keith (Elaine) Hale of Jackson; two daughters, Teresia (Wayne) Sinn of Cape Girardeau, Sherril (Horace) Reams of Fond du Lac, Wis.; a brother, Arlie (Peggy) Smith Jr. of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, June (Elmer) Peetz of Cape Girardeau, Gladys Slinkard and Ruth (Kenny) Brindley of Scott City; five grandchildren, Kristi (Gary) Gray, Jessica (Matt) Uhrhan, Matt Reams, Jonathon and Justin Sinn; and the light of her life, four great-grandsons, Owen, Connor, Mark and Carter.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Debbie Arvelo officiating.

Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
