BENTON, Mo. -- Neva Jean Vetter, 79, of Benton died Thursday, March 31, 2011, at her home.

She was born May 23, 1931, in Holcomb, Mo., to Earl and Esther Beshear Benfield. She married Alfred Vetter on Oct. 30, 1954, in Cape Girardeau.

Neva was a former operator at Southwestern Bell and a member of St. Denis Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Michael and Christopher Vetter of Benton, Brian Vetter of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Pat Vetter of Des Moines, Iowa, Pam Fehr of Wildwood, Mo., Carol Gordon of Oak Harbor, Wash.; a brother, Jerry Benfield of Advance, Mo.; two sisters, Dixie Ross of Kennett, Mo., Catherine Markham of Advance; 11 grandchildren, Jeremy, Julia, Nikki, Joshua, Amanda, Jamie, Kaitlin, Kristen, Ian, Sean and Shane; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and four sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at St. Denis Church. Parish prayers will be at 7:30.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Michael Casteel as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Denis Cemetery.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel of Benton is in charge of arrangements.
