ALLENVILLE, Mo. -- A voluntary evacuation for citizens in Allenville, Mo. will continue throughout the afternoon as floodwaters continue to rise posing serious threats to residents.

According to a representative with the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department, the evacuation process began this morning by way of boat, offering help to anyone willing to leave. She said she could not estimate how many of the 63 residents had been evacuated. Evacuees in need will be taken to the Delta Community Center in Delta, Mo.

The Cape Girardeau County Emergency Management Agency, Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department, Cape Girardeau Fire Department, Delta Fire Department, Whitewater Fire Department, the Missouri Department of Conservation, and the National Guard are all in cooperation to assist with the evacuation of residents.
