CHARLESTON, Mo. -- A Sikeston, Mo., girl was killed after being struck by a vehicle Sunday in Mississippi County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at 5:30 p.m., a 5-year-old pedestrian, Madison Hart of Sikeston, was in a ditch of tall grass on the shoulder of County Road 326, five miles south of Charleston. David L. Sutton, 20, of East Prairie was traveling westbound on the gravel road when the girl stepped out of the tall grass and into the path of Sutton's vehicle...

CHARLESTON, Mo. -- A Sikeston, Mo., girl was killed after being struck by a vehicle Sunday in Mississippi County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at 5:30 p.m., a 5-year-old pedestrian, Madison Hart of Sikeston, was in a ditch of tall grass on the shoulder of County Road 326, five miles south of Charleston. David L. Sutton, 20, of East Prairie was traveling westbound on the gravel road when the girl stepped out of the tall grass and into the path of Sutton's vehicle.

Hart was taken by ambulance to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, where she was pronounced dead at 6:30 p.m.
