Food stamps

MICHIGAN has a $2 million lottery winner that has no shame and is accepting food stamps 11 months after winning. The state of Michigan says their hands are tied and he is eligible. Now, explain how they can make that kind of claim while people trying to better themselves by working are kicked off as soon as possible.

Not racist

SINCE when did conservative equal racist?

Drug testing

DOES the legislation requiring drug testing for those who receive state government assistance, legislation state Sen. Jason Crowell voted for, apply to flood victims he encouraged to try to get assistance?

Empty promises

DEAR President Obama: Please do not seek re-election. Thank you. Signed, all the disenfranchised voters who believed your empty promises.

First black president?

A recent comment in Speak Out claimed that President Obama is the first black president. This is inaccurate. President Obama is as much Caucasian as any other ethnicity.

War criminal

LIBERALS called President George W. Bush a war criminal. Will they cry the same at the beloved President Obama since he has continued the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan while subsequently attacking Pakistan and Libya with American troops and bombs? I doubt it.

Continued policies

PRESIDENT Obama is no different from President George W. Bush, except Obama spends more and breaks more promises. He is continuing to torture through rendition, has kept Gitmo open, has bombed sovereign nations, continues the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and has continued domestic spying.

Child at head

HAS anybody ever wondered why bank CEOs get millions in bonuses when they can't fail? You could put a child at the head of a bank and that bank still wouldn't fail. Thank you, Mr. Bush. You crook.

Policies, not race

OBAMA being of a darker skin color has nothing to do with why many conservatives do not like him. It's his policies and the attitude that he is somehow a better person than anyone else that draws our ire. I sure wish people would get that.

War acceptable?

What happened to all the anti-war protesters? It seems that ever since Obama was elected, the wars have suddenly become acceptable.

Drill now

THE reason oil prices are high is not because of corporate greed. It's because the supply of oil cannot meet the demands for oil. If the U.S. government would let us drill our own oil fields, we could increase the supply to meet the demand that would lower the price of oil.

Stop and think

SOME people believe a marriage license is proof of ownership and a license to yell. We need to stop and think.

Oil refineries

THERE'S another complaint about the oil company profits in reference to building refineries in which they imply that the companies won't build refineries. The fact is that they have tried over and over for the last 25 years to build refineries, but the regulations and laws of the federal government and states won't let them do it.
