Wet fields again stood in the way of two local baseball teams' attempts to punch their tickets to the final four.

Central and Oran will try to play their quarterfinal games today.

Central is scheduled to host Vianney at 4:30 p.m. in a Class 4 quarterfinal. The Tigers, who enter 17-9, are searching for their first final four berth since 1994 when they won the state title.

Vianney enters at 24-8 and riding a four-game winning streak.

Oran will host Naylor at 4 p.m. in a Class 1 quarterfinal.

The Eagles (22-2) last made the final four in 2008 when they finished third.

Naylor (16-4) is coming off a 9-2 win over Oak Ridge in the sectional round Tuesday.

The St. Vincent girls soccer team will try to earn a trip to its third consecutive Class 1 final four Saturday. The Indians play at John Burroughs at 5 p.m.

The Indians (20-4) won the state title in 2009 before taking third last season.

John Burroughs (8-8-1) has won four straight games, but one of its losses came was a 6-0 setback to St. Pius. The Indians defeated St. Pius 1-0 in the Class 1 District 1 title game.
