The Southeast Missouri State baseball team staved off elimination, at least for a while, at the Ohio Valley Conference tournament Friday.

Second-seeded Southeast beat sixth-seeded Tennessee-Martin 12-7 in the losers bracket of the six-team, double-elimination event in Jackson, Tenn.

Southeast faced another elimination game Friday, against fourth-seeded Tennessee Tech in a contest that was scheduled to start at 3 p.m.

The Redhawks (33-21) broke a six-game OVC tournament losing streak by beating UT-Martin (20-36).

Casey Jones led Southeast with two home runs, including a grand slam. He drove in six runs. Brett Russell also homered. Jon Dicus pitched all nine innings, allowing 10 hits and four earned runs.
