Syble Lee Dunlap, 72, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, June 15, 2011, and her husband, David E. Dunlap, 73, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, June 16, 2011, at their home.

She was born Aug. 2, 1938, in Gideon, Mo., to Leonard and Ruth Mabel Duley. He was born July 29, 1937, in Shreveport, La., to C.R. and Bernice Edmonds Dunlap. They were married July 5, 1956, at Clarkton, Mo.

The Dunlaps were members of Trinity Grace Chapel.

Syble was employed at Nell Holcomb School several years. She loved to fish and was an avid shopper. David attended the University of Houston and enjoyed spending time on his computer. They loved traveling together in their motor home.

Syble passed away after a long battle with cancer, and David passed away after losing his beloved wife of 55 years.

Their immediate survivors include a son, David E. Dunlap II and wife Mary of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Karen Lape of Valdosta, Ga., Jane Cossiboom of Scott City; five grandchildren, Megan Lape, Krystal Enderle, Alex Dunlap, Tyler Cossiboom, Jamie Wages; and a great-grandchild, Tayton Wages.

Syble is also survived by a brother, Jerry Duley and wife Cecelia of Gordonville; two sisters, Earlene Brown of Cape Girardeau, and Shirley Radcliff and husband Charles of Atlanta.

Both Syble and David were preceded in death by their parents.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.

A double funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Troy Truitt officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
