LAST week, the parents of Notre Dame students received an email from the school principal, Brother David, that girls are not allowed to wear beads or feathers in their hair. I do think that if this is the case, that the boys soccer team should not be allowed to bleach their hair completely white during soccer season. I hope Brother David will consider this...Beads, hair color

I see where the Texas governor is getting religion on TV. Well, it must be getting close to election time. Just what we need, another Texan president. How did that work last time?
Fuel charge
I think it's an outrage that the city is charging an outrageous amount for sewer service. Then to cap it off, they have the gall to charge a fuel charge to our bill. The extra $20 a month was bad enough, but don't charge us for gas too. Incidentally, gas prices are down. So will we see a decrease in the fuel charge? I guess not.
Thank you
THIS is to thank the guy and little girl in the white pickup truck that bought me and my wife's breakfast recently. We didn't get to thank him personally. We appreciate what he did.
Back to work
HOW dare the President and members of Congress stay on vacation with all the problems going on, not only in the U.S. but in other countries as well. Get your butts back here and work for the U.S. citizens. The Obama administration is in shambles. It just can't be fixed unless you try to do something about it.
Cardinals trade
I think the St. Louis Cardinals made a bad mistake by trading the center fielder for a pitcher nobody's ever heard of, and I don't think they're going to the playoffs.

GOP recess
THE Republicans have recessed Congress for 30 days. With all the work that needs to be done to get the confidence of the people back on track, they take 30 days off. You tell me why.
Bad change
PRESIDENT Obama, this message is to you. If this is the change that you were talking about, we don't like the change. I think you need to resign and get out of office.
Outsourcing jobs
I was watching the news on TV, and it's showing President Obama at a battery factory saying how you can't bet against the American worker. Well, I don't care if it's President Obama or President Bush, all the administrations have outsourced all of our jobs to India, China and everywhere else.
Spending the funds
TO the 20-plus-year-old who recently commented in Speak Out: Social Security would be solvent, but our government took our money to pay bills and didn't reimburse the Social Security fund. It would be as if your bank took money from your savings account to pave their parking lot. Understand? May God bless you in prosperity.

A friend and I were having lunch at a local restaurant recently only to discover that someone had already paid for our lunch. This is to thank that someone and to say God bless you.
Affordable housing
I think Obama was a good change because I always watch the houses and see how expensive homes have become, and I wondered what would happen if I had to move, how would we ever be able to afford a home again. Now the housing market has gotten more reasonable. It's those who chose to buy beyond their means that got stuck, but those who bought modestly, such as my spouse and I, we'll be able to move easily when the time comes.
