Wilma Lucille Denny, 95, of Mount Erie, Ill., died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 19, 1916, in Mount Erie, daughter of Samuel and Nellie Fitch Keyser. She and Clifton Floyd Denny were married Nov. 1, 1938, in Portland, Ind. After 66 years, Wilma lost her husband, Cliff, in June 2005.

Wilma spent the majority of her life in Mount Erie and attended school there. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ and was a lifelong member of "the Brick," Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She faithfully served as church pianist and/or organist more than 50 years. She delighted in helping with Bible school and ministering to others.

She was known for her great cooking and gardening, which she loved sharing with family and friends. While she was a homemaker the majority of her lifetime, she did work as a Fashion Two Twenty consultant several years and was awarded numerous awards for being the top sales consultant.

Survivors include a daughter, Dana (Ron) Underwood of Cape Girardeau; a granddaughter, Tracy (Jason) Jumps of St. Louis; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Alexander Jumps and Hilary Maxine Jumps of St. Louis; a sister, Wanda Hooper of Evansville, Ind.; two brothers, Willis Keyser of Cisne, Ill., Walter Keyser of Geff, Ill.; and nieces and nephews she loved dearly.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patsy Denny, and a brother, Wallace Keyser.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hosselton Funeral Home in Cisne.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Greg Keyser officiating. Burial will be in McKendree Cemetery at Mt. Erie.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at Mount Erie, and will be accepted at the funeral home.
