All the local high school events reported Monday to the Southeast Missourian.

The Notre Dame girls tennis team competed in its inaugural match Monday.

The Bulldogs, playing on their new courts, fell to Kennett 9-0.

Tatum Dodd came the closest to victory for Notre Dame. She fell to Kelsey Ashburn 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5 singles.

The Bulldogs return to action Sept. 8 when they host Poplar Bluff.

Nerinx Hall 7, Jackson 2

Lucy Kuntz was the host Indians' lone singles winner, posting a victory at No. 4.

Kuntz then teamed with Jackie McNally to win their doubles match 9-7.

The Indians (1-1) will host Sikeston at 4 p.m. today.

Notre Dame 15, Twin Rivers 0

Katie Bond tossed a four-inning no-hitter to lead the host Bulldogs to victory.

Bond struck out six. Twin Rivers' only baserunner reached on an error.

Summer Burger had three hits, all doubles, while Savanna Ayers and Brianne Sanders both went 3 for 4.

Jessica Menz went 2 for 3 with a double.

The Crusaders opened their season by getting shut out on the road.

Saxony Lutheran returns to action Thursday against Jackson at the Notre Dame SoccerFest.

VOLLEYBALL

Bloomfield 18 25 25 Central 25 16 18

Tori Scheller recorded four kills and 11 assists in the Tigers' season-opening road loss.

Apolonia Thomas added four kills and two block for Central, which hosts Perryville tonight.

Senior Katie Hogan smacked 13 kills and Whitney Froman added nine in the Rams' season-opening win.

Sydney Short recorded 21 assists, while Mikah Simpson chipped in seven kills and five aces.

Oran 25 25 Charleston 16 14

The Eagles won their season opener at home.

Addie Kielhofner had eight assists and two kills in the conference win.

Molly Webb added three digs, while Kali Mills recorded four aces, two kills and three digs for Oran.
