Shirley Johnson

CALVERT CITY, Ky. -- Shirley A. Britton Johnson, 80, of Calvert City, formerly of Villa Ridge, Ill., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at her residence.

Mrs. Johnson was born Sept. 10, 1931, in Cairo, daughter of the late Benson E. and Blanche Stinnett Britton.

She was a bookkeeper for several businesses, including a hotel.

She was preceded in death by her father, Benson E. Britton.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Johnson of Calvert City; daughter, Linda A. Johnson of Gilbertsville, Ky.; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Lisa Johnson of Benton, Ky.; her mother, Blanche Britton of Ullin, Ill.; brother, Irving (Pat) Britton of Villa Ridge; sister, Kay (Jim) Hale of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; two grandchildren, Elaina Rowley and Ryan Johnson; one great- grandson, Luke Rowley; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge, with the Rev. Larry Miller officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery before service time.
