KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City's Liberty Memorial will undergo a $3.6 million renovation beginning next month.
The city's park board Tuesday approved a contract for the work. The improvements will include reconstructing and water-sealing the Generals' Wall in front of the memorial. The wall includes bronze images of five World War I Allied military commanders who met in Kansas City.

The Kansas City Star reported that other parts of the project include landscaping, repairing and spot cleaning the concrete tower, new lighting and repairs to other stonework.
Project manager Jimmi Lossing said the work should begin in about a month and be completed next May or June.
The project is funded by a tax increment financing district associated with the nearby Federal Reserve's regional headquarters and the memorial's endowment.
