All the local high school events reported Tuesday to the Southeast Missourian.

St. Vincent, Delta and Woodland all posted first-round victories at the Delta New Year's girls basketball tournament Tuesday.

Second-seeded St. Vincent advanced to tonight's semifinals with a 52-31 victory against No. 7 Scott County Central.

Kayla Seabaugh scored 16 points for the Indians, while Katie Mattingly contributed 14 points.

Johniqua Fort netted 11 points for the Braves.

St. Vincent will meet No. 3 Delta, which defeated No. 6 Chaffee 48-32, in the semis.

Machela VanGennip had 24 points, six rebounds and six assists in Delta's victory. Macey Parks added 10 points for the Bobcats.

Jordi Pruitt paced Chaffee with 23 points.

Fourth-seeded Woodland advanced to a semifinal meeting with top-seeded Meadow Heights with a 63-48 win against No. 5 Saxony Lutheran.

Josie Long led Woodland with 22 points. Kendra Pinkley added 19 points, while Kathlyn Cooper had 10.

Natalie Mueller scored 16 points for the Crusaders. Maci Daniel added 14 points.

Tournament play continues today when Scott County Central and Chaffee meet in a 4:30 p.m. consolation semifinal. Meadow Heights and Woodland will follow at 6 p.m., and Delta and St. Vincent will play at 7:30 p.m.
