Road problems

KINGSHIGHWAY on the north side over to the interstate toward Jackson has so many deep potholes that is impossible to miss them all. I drove over there recently, and if you all don't put some asphalt in these holes, you are going to have people with wheels out of alignment and blown tires. It's just about as bad as Cape Girardeau on Lexington Avenue from Perryville Road to Mount Auburn Road. We pay all this tax money and everybody brags about how good of roads we've got. The potholes are so big that you can't even drive around them.

Restaurant smoking

I agree with the Speak Out about shame on you Cape Girardeau for having smoking allowed in restaurants. During the holiday season I had out-of-town company come, including my children who are students in Columbia, Mo., and they couldn't believe that smoking was still allowed in the restaurants and in the bars in Cape Girardeau. It makes us look pretty backward in today's times of health issues and secondhand smoke. Cape Girardeau, let's get it together and clean up our restaurants and bars.

Deer solution

PLEASE find a better way of dealing with the deer. They are one of God's most beautiful animals. Let the city, Humane Society, Conservation Department find a better way. It is inhumane to kill them with a bow and arrow. Put them to sleep and transfer them someplace in the woods. If someone gets hurt it will be the city's fault. We have a church, day care and college students in the area plus a lot of traffic.
