Marilyn Steck, 70, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at her home. She was born May 13, 1941, near Advance, Mo., to Hobert and Oleta Irwin Kight Sr. She was first married to Sam Below, and from that union came her daughter, Scarlett. She later married Frank Steck on Jan. 29, 1985, in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death May 22, 1992...

Marilyn Steck, 70, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at her home.

She was born May 13, 1941, near Advance, Mo., to Hobert and Oleta Irwin Kight Sr. She was first married to Sam Below, and from that union came her daughter, Scarlett. She later married Frank Steck on Jan. 29, 1985, in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death May 22, 1992.

Marilyn was a loan teller at Farmers and Merchants Bank and then at Boatmen's Bank more than 25 years. She later worked at Walmart in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church many years and was a former member of First Baptist Church in Delta.

Marilyn graduated salutatorian from Delta High School. She was a member and volunteer of Southeast Hospital Auxiliary more than 10 years. She was an Oak Valley 4-H Club leader, and was previously a Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church in Delta.

Survivors include a daughter, Scarlett and husband Rick Dittlinger of Benton, Mo.; a brother, Joe and wife Karen Kight of Jackson; a stepson, Tom Steck of St. Louis; a stepdaughter, Susan Koepp of Florida; two grandchildren, Conner and Sydney Dittlinger of Benton; four stepgrandchildren, Ashley Steck of St. Louis, Christina Koepp of Florida, John and Kyle Koepp of Benton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Donald, William and Hobert Jr. Kight; and two sisters, Patricia Barker and Jean Cox.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Sanderson officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
