Great show

MY whole family drove down from St. Louis to see my daughter in "The Pajama Game," and I hope you all know how wonderful it is to have such professional entertainment in your community. A wonderful show! Thank you to the Department of Theatre and Dance for all you do for our girl.

Buckner presentation

A number of us went to hear John Buckner, who recently purchased the old Esquire Theatre and is the owner of Eustis Studio, speak at the entrepreneur breakfast at Schuck Recital Hall. That man is a visionary for Cape Girardeau. We all hope the city will listen to his ideas on how to rebuild the downtown. He's a breath of fresh air.

Gas prices

REPUBLICANS say we need to drill for more oil and put it in the pipeline. That is going to solve the gas problems. Bull. Not when the gas and oil companies are shutting down the refineries to get the prices higher so they can make more money. That will put more money into the pockets of the Republicans, as that is where they get their money from, the oil companies.

Cape's traffic

STOP blaming the city on traffic snarls after Southeast Missouri State University games. When Southeast decided to build on Sprigg Street, it promised to help pay the costs of wider roads, traffic control, etc., and that never happened. If they had built the Show Me Center on the land offered (for free, if I remember correctly) right off Interstate 55, none of this would happen. But the university just had to build on Sprigg Street. As for the additional traffic that will come from the casino, don't blame that on the city. Blame the troubles the casino will bring on the voters who voted for the darned thing and all those people who pushed it through.

'Pajama Game'

WE saw "The Pajama Game" tonight at the River Campus. Wonderful! Congrats to the Department of Theatre and Dance for another wonderful production. You make Cape Girardeau a better place.
