Southeast Missouri State senior third baseman Trenton Moses has lived up to his billing as a preseason All-American and the Ohio Valley Conference preseason player of the year in the early stages of this season.

The Advance High School graduate's strong play was recognized Monday when he was named the OVC player of the week for the second time this year.

Moses, an All-American last season and the reigning OVC player of the year, hit .600 (9 for 15) in four games last week. He had three home runs and a double while driving in eight runs and scoring six runs. He slugged 1.267 and had an on-base percentage of .684.

Moses' big week was highlighted by a 5-for-5 performance Friday against Wright State when he tied his career high for hits. He had four RBIs and scored four runs. He also homered twice Tuesday against Saint Louis University.

Moses, who has reached base safely in 37 straight games dating back to last year, leads the OVC in batting average (.474), slugging percentage (.895), on-base percentage (.610), runs scored (18) and RBIs (23). He is second in homers (6).

Southeast has compiled a 6-10 record against nonconference competition.

"Trenton is having another great year. He's been tremendous offensively and defensively," Southeast coach Mark Hogan said. "He's a great representative for our program on and off the field."
