PERKINS, Mo. -- Wesley Leroy Jones Sr., 71, of Perkins passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born Sept. 6, 1940, at Bernie, Mo., son of Leonard and Gwendolyn Anderson Jones. He and Nancy Miles were married Dec. 29, 1984, in Oran, Mo...

PERKINS, Mo. -- Wesley Leroy Jones Sr., 71, of Perkins passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 6, 1940, at Bernie, Mo., son of Leonard and Gwendolyn Anderson Jones. He and Nancy Miles were married Dec. 29, 1984, in Oran, Mo.

Jones was a sewing machine mechanic many years with International Hat Co., and later Paramount Hat Co. in Oran and Marble Hill, Mo.

He was a disabled veteran of the Army.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Wesley (Fara) Jones Jr. of Oran; stepchildren, Bobby (Cindy) Harris of Millen, Ga., Rick (Carol) Harris of Winder, Ga., Sherrie (Rick) Sutton of Augusta, Ga., Dwana (Buddy) McClaine, Deanna Gonzalez and Darin (Tora) Hudgens, all of Benton, Mo., and Don (Penny) Hudgens Jr. of Marble Hill; a brother, Dale (Karen) Jones of Alton, Mo.; a sister, Mary Kay (John) Mohler of Bloomfield, N.M.; three grandchildren; 16 stepgrandchildren; and five great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard "Sonny" and Dwight "Ikie" Jones.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Perkins Baptist Church.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Bryan Gill officiating. Inurnment, with military honors, will be at noon at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill is in charge of arrangements.
