POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Local authorities are searching for a masked man who allegedly robbed a convenience store early Tuesday morning at gunpoint and made off with the money from the store's register.

Poplar Bluff police officers responded to a call just before 5:45 a.m. of a robbery at Murphy's Express on South Westwood Boulevard, deputy chief Jeff Rolland said.

The manager said a man wearing a ski mask and displaying a handgun came into the store and demanded money, Rolland said.

An undetermined amount of money from the cash register was taken and the suspect fled the scene on foot, Rolland said.

Two employees and a vendor who was stocking shelves were in the store at the time of the alleged robbery.
