She was born April 6, 1921, near Lutesville, Mo., daughter of Lewis Emmanuel and Edna Josephine Johnson Mansker. She and Frank VanGennip were married Oct. 11, 1941. He passed away Aug. 7, 1981...

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Lena VanGennip, 90, of Marble Hill passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at her home.

She was born April 6, 1921, near Lutesville, Mo., daughter of Lewis Emmanuel and Edna Josephine Johnson Mansker. She and Frank VanGennip were married Oct. 11, 1941. He passed away Aug. 7, 1981.

Lena had worked at the hat factories in Advance and Marble Hill more than 30 years and was a member of First Baptist Church in Marble Hill.

Survivors include a son, Edwin "Beaver" VanGennip of Marble Hill; a sister, Mary Parson of Marble Hill; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and five sisters.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Dale Huff and Bud Armstrong officiating. Interment will be in Baker Cemetery near Marble Hill.
