Cape Girardeau police are investigating a shooting that happened late Sunday at Hanover Street and Cousin Street. Police received a call of a person down at about 9:45 p.m., according to Cpl. Rodney Edwards.

Cape Girardeau police are investigating a shooting that happened late Sunday at Hanover Street and Cousin Street.

Police received a call of a person down at about 9:45 p.m., according to Cpl. Rodney Edwards. The victim had been shot once in the leg, and was found on a sidewalk by the first officer who responded. The victim was alert and was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Edwards said the shot appeared to be from a small caliber weapon. There were no suspects yet as of about 10:30 p.m.
