Floyd Harry Lichtenegger, 86, of Jackson passed away Monday, March 26, 2012, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 2, 1925, in Pocahontas, to Herbert and Ida Palisch Lichtenegger. He and Dorothy C. Grebing were married June 4, 1949, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Frohna, Mo.

Floyd was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Pocahontas, where he served on various committees, many times serving as committee chairman.

In addition to managing service stations in Altenburg, Mo., and Fruitland with his wife, Dorothy, Floyd drove a school bus for Jackson School District, St. Paul Lutheran School and VIP sheltered workshop. He also owned and operated a dairy farm near Pocahontas.

He was a board member of Farm Bureau, Co-op and the American Dairy Association, and enjoyed hunting and fishing as time permitted.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy of Jackson; four sons, Jim Lichtenegger and wife Gail of Jackson, Bill Lichtenegger and wife Shelli of Prairie Village, Kan., Bob Lichtenegger and wife Cindy of Jackson, Stan Lichtenegger of Santa Ana, Calif.; a brother and sister-in-law, Herb and Barbara Lichtenegger of Jackson; a brother-in-law, Tillman Leimer of Cape Girardeau; eight grandchildren, Jenise, Sarah, Kelley and husband Tyler Dumey, Cheryl, Paul, Jacob, Kessler and Emily; and a great-granddaughter, Caroline Dumey.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Vera Leimer.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and from 9 a.m. to time of service Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Bruce Ritter officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
