CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. -- A Steele, Mo., man has been arrested in connection with a Monday shooting.

Lee Houston, 41, was arrested on charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal action, the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Department reported Tuesday.

Police responded to a report of a fight just outside the Holland, Mo., city limits. Deputies found one man with a gunshot wound to the leg and learned one person had fled the scene after shots were fired between him and the wounded man.

When officers went to Houston's home, they found him hiding in the attic, according to Sheriff Tommy Greenwell.

"Additional charges are expected to be filed, along with arrests of other individuals," Greenwell said in a news release.
