Investigators were searching for a Chevrolet S-10 pickup involved in a two-vehicle accident with a Jackson School District bus early Friday afternoon, said Sgt. Brad Lively of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

At about 3:44 p.m., the pickup was pulling out of the Rhodes 101 gas station at the intersection of Missouri highways 34 and 101 when it went into a slide, troopers said. The vehicle struck a median then struck one side of the bus near its rear axle, witnesses told investigators.

The driver got out and looked at the vehicles, then returned to the pickup and drove away eastbound, witnesses said.

Troopers estimated there were 20 students on the bus, which continued its route. Investigators said rain might have been a factor in the crash.

Witnesses told investigators there were black, brown and beige colors of paint on the pickup. Lively said it is a misdemeanor to leave the scene of an accident in which there is less than $1,000 damage done.

Investigators ask that anyone who saw the crash or who may know the pickup driver to contact the highway patrol.
