In federal court: Man gets six months for unlawfully re-entering, remaining in U.S.

The U.S. attorney's office released the following information Monday for defendants who appeared before U.S. District Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh Jr.

Name: Juan Silva-Cruz

Residence: Mexico

Charges: Unlawfully re-entering and remaining in the United States

Sentence: Six months

Summary: On Jan. 2, Silva-Cruz was arrested for a traffic offense in Cape Girardeau County. He was later identified as a Mexican citizen illegally in the United States by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. Authorities discovered that he had previously been deported from the United States to Mexico on several occasions.
